The evergreen Pachmarhi is one of the very famous hill stations of
India. The dense forest of Satpura valley makes it a vulnerable habitat
for wild animals. The wildlife sanctuary of Pachmarhi is adjoining area
of Satpura National Park. Raja Bhoj international airport Bhopal is the
nearest airport that connects to the “Queen of Satpura" that is none
other than Pachmarhi.
The hill station situated at Hoshangabad
district of Madhya Pradesh is an easily reachable dream destination of
India due its very strong connectivity through railways. It comes under
Jabalpur railway division. Itarsi Junction railway station is a hub
point to brings rail passengers and tourists from all over the India.
However, the nearest railway station is Pipariya, just 50 km away.

Pachmarhi is any time after rainy season that is monsoon. Though, it can
be visited any month in the year. Being a hill station the summer is
the best time to be there. Due to summer vacations families plan their
trip to Pachmarhi during May- June. Generally a three to four days trip
is enough. For wild life adventurous trip it could be a week long
journey.
Places to visit in Pachmarhi
The list of places to visit in Pachmarhi can be very long. Short descriptions of few visit able places are following:-
1. Dhoopgarh
Dhoopgarh
is a famous spot for its sun rise and sun set point. Experiencing sun
rise or sun set at the highest point of Madhya Pradesh (M.P.) is a sheer
delight.
2. Bee fall
Bee fall is the most
relevant point to have fun. Bathing under natural cool water fall is
enjoyable especially for youngsters. Reaching out there takes an extra
effort as the way to Bee fall is slightly tough. From a fix point the
way to fall can be covered on foot or by the Gypsy four wheel vehicle
only.
3. Jata Shanker Caves
The way to Jata
Shanker caves is the easiest among all the tourist points in Pachmarhi.
It is hardly one kilometer apart from bus stand. Tourists usually take a
leisure walk to the place. Historical lord Shiva temple down stair
around hills and mountain rocks is a must watchable place.
4. Apsara Vihar
There
is a small but very beautiful water fall. It looks like a natural
swimming pool. Swimming is an enjoyable act there. It is popularly known
as “Fairy Pool”.
5. Chauragarh Peak
This
is the second highest peak after Dhoopgarh. Tourists spend some good
time as the place has a scenic view. There is a lord Shiva temple.
Devotees pray for their wellness. It is assumed that the wishes of
devotees are fulfilled by the grace of The God.
6. Rajat Prapat or Silver Fall
The
Silver fall is really something incredible. This is perhaps the very
different from other falls in the world for the following reasons
- Single fall of over hundred meter length
- It is counted among the top thirty highest waterfalls in India
- The flow of water looks like a melted silver pouring down from mountain to earth
- A horse tail shaped waterfall
7. Pandav Caves
It
is believed that the name of the hill station is named as Pachmarhi
just because of the five rock solid caves made in the ancient era.
Pachmarhi
is a combined name of five caves in Hindi language.Mythological story
says Pandavs (five brothers) of historical time Mahabharat were hiding
there from the hostile Koravas.
Situated in the south Pachmarhi
there is a beautiful garden adjacent to Pandav caves. Visitors relax and
take a leisure walk around the garden.
8. Chhota Mahadeo or Gupt Mahadev
This
is the narrowest cave found in Pachmarhi. Reaching to the spot is no
difficult way. At times visitors have to wait for sometimes as only 4 to
5 people can enter the cave at a time to avoid claustrophobic
situation. Temperature remains cool there as the wall of the cave is
naturally moist.
9. Handi Khoh
It is a
famous spot for its spectacular view point. Here two mountains opposite
to each other meet deeply over three hundred feet to form a v shaped
ravine.
